JOIN US!

Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!

Whether you are looking to join a golf club for the first time or maybe you just want to add an option to play on Thursdays or Saturdays (or both!), we're happy that you're checking us out.

We play all of our games on the beautiful 18 Hole Balboa Park Golf Course.

We love the game of golf, the challenge and affordability of the Balboa Park Golf Course, and the fun that comes from playing with other slightly crazy women!
We hope that you will join our merry band as we celebrate our 90th year!

How can I join the Balboa Park Women's Golf Club?

New memberships and renewals are done electronically through the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA).

Go to scga.org and click on the "JOIN" button on the menu bar. Under the Full Membership option, click Find A Club, then click on the search button to the right. Scroll down to find our club.

You'll find a lot of information about the club...and most importantly, the "JOIN NOW" button to get started.

When does the club play?

We have two groups - Thursdays and Weekenders.

The Thursday group plays on Thursday mornings with tee times generally between 7:30 am and 9:00 am.  The Thursday group offers friendly games and tournaments approximately 48 weeks a year.

The Weekenders play on Saturday mornings, usually twice per month.  The tee times are generally between 8:00 am and 9:00 am.  The Weekenders play approximately two weeks each month.

Some members choose the option to play with both groups.

Do you assign the tee times or do I have a choice?

We utilize the Golf Genius app for many purposes and one that our members really love is the ability to sign up for our own tee times.

When may I join?

You can become a member of BPWGC at any time.  Just use the SCGA link above to start your membership.  Once you are a member, you'll be reminded that it is time to renew your annual membership.

What is the cost to join?

You will have options to choose the membership that best meets your schedule.

We offer three membership options:

  • Thursday group $125 per year

  • Weekenders $75 per year

  • Thursday+Weekenders $137 per year

All memberships in BPWGC include a membership in the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA).

What else should I know?

  • Our club memberships include a membership in the Southern California Golf Association.  $39 of your membership goes to the SCGA.  As an SCGA member, you can sign up for their member only events that take place throughout Southern California.  SCGA also maintains your handicap that is accepted by tournaments worldwide.

  • Our members automatically become eligible to sign up for San Diego County Women's Golf Association's tournaments held throughout the County.

  • If you are interested in playing with the Weekenders, we encourage you to check out the Weekenders link on the menu above.

  • The Balboa Park is one of the most beautiful and challenging courses in San Diego County.  If you have not previously played the 18 hole course, we highly recommend that you try playing it a couple of times before initiating a membership in the club.

  • Your membership does not include green fees or cart rentals.  Those fees are paid to the City of San Diego.  Members who have a City Resident ID card receive discounts on their green fees.

    MULTI-CLUB SCGA REBATES

If you are a member of more than one SCGA Member Club you may apply for your Multi-Club REBATE from SCGA starting in March, 2022.  Go to http://www.scga.org/membership/multi-member-rebate-program and follow the instructions.

RULES FOR LIFT, CLEAN AND PLACE

EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY:Lift, Clean and Place will ONLY be in effect when included in the Player Tip Sheet sent out prior to the round.  If it is not included in that message, Lift, Clean and Place will not be in effect.

  • Lift, Clean, and Place applies to the FAIRWAYS of the course only.  In general, the relief must be within one club length.  There are a few spots on the course (e.g. on #5 on the left side of the fairway close to the cart path turn) where there are deep ruts or other abnormal course conditions where you may need to go beyond one club length.  If your playing partners agree that closer relief is not possible, you are allowed to go to the first point of available relief.

  • These rules are in addition to those included in the BPWGC LOCAL RULES.  Please use the button above to access the complete Local Rules.

BALBOA PARK PACE OF PLAY POLICY

For the enjoyment of all the golfers on the course today, we ask that you do your part by keeping up with the group in front of you.  If we see that you have fallen behind, we may use the following actions:

  *  Your Group may be instructed to pick  up their balls and move ahead on the course to close the gap.

  *  Your Group may be asked to allow other groups behind you to play through.

A GROUP'S PACE IS DETERMINED BY THEIR POSITION  RELATIVE TO THE GROUP IN FRONT OF THEM.

LET'S MAKE IT FUN FOR EVERYONE!

Unless you are expecting an EMERGENCY CALL, please turn your phone off.  Do not use your phone for business or social purposes.

GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP is expected at all times!  Please do not throw your clubs, slam them into the ground, or use bad language.  We all get disappointed with bad shots, but poor sportsmanship is unacceptable!

WELCOME OUR NEW MEMBERS!
