Girls Just Wanna Have Fun!
Whether you are looking to join a golf club for the first time or maybe you just want to add an option to play on Thursdays or Saturdays (or both!), we're happy that you're checking us out.
The Thursday and Saturday groups play all of our games on the beautiful 18 Hole Balboa Park Golf Course.
We love the game of golf, the challenge and affordability of the Balboa Park Golf Course, and the fun that comes from playing with other slightly crazy women!
We hope that you will join our merry band as we celebrate our 91st year!
How can I join the Balboa Park Women's Golf Club?
New memberships and renewals are done electronically through the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA).
Go to scga.org and click on the "JOIN" button on the menu bar. Under the Full Membership option, click Find A Club, then click on the search button to the right. Scroll down to find our club.
You'll find a lot of information about the club...and most importantly, the "JOIN NOW" button to get started.
When does the club play?
We have two groups - Thursdays and Weekenders.
The Thursday group plays on Thursday mornings with tee times generally between 7:30 am and 9:30 am. The Thursday group offers friendly games and tournaments approximately 48 weeks a year.
The Weekenders play on Saturday mornings, usually twice per month. The
tee times are generally between 8:00 am and 9:00 am. The Weekenders play approximately two weeks each month.
Some members choose the option to play with both groups.
Do you assign the tee times or do I have a choice?
We utilize the Golf Genius app for many purposes and one that our members really love is the ability to sign up for our own tee times.
When may I join?
You can become a member of BPWGC at any time. Just use the SCGA link above to start your membership. Once you are a member, you'll be reminded that it is time to renew your annual membership.
What is the cost to join?
You will have options to choose the membership that best meets your schedule.
We offer three membership options (rates effective 1/1/25):
-
Thursday group $130 per year
-
Weekenders $80 per year
-
Thursday+Weekenders $150 per year
All memberships in BPWGC include a membership in the Southern California Golf Association (SCGA).
What else should I know?
-
Our club memberships include a membership in the Southern California Golf Association. $41 of your membership goes to the SCGA. As an SCGA member, you can sign up for their member only events that take place throughout Southern California. SCGA also maintains your handicap that is accepted by tournaments worldwide.
-
Our members automatically become eligible to sign up for San Diego County Women's Golf Association's tournaments held throughout the County.
-
If you are interested in playing with the Weekenders, we encourage you to check out the Weekenders link on the menu tab at the top of this page.
-
The Balboa Park Golf Course is one of the most beautiful and challenging courses in San Diego County. If you have not previously played the 18 hole course, we highly recommend that you try playing it a couple of times before initiating a membership in the club.
-
Your membership does not include green fees or cart rentals. Those fees are paid to the City of San Diego. Members who have a City Resident ID card receive discounts on their green fees.
-
TORREY PINES WOMEN'S NINE HOLE GOLF CLUB (aka TP9) - If you are looking for a fun way to close out your week, you might love the TP9 women's golf club! They play almost every Friday of the year on the Balboa Park 9 hole golf course, right across the street from the Balboa Park 18. Great way to sharpen your short game! Learn more about the TP9 women's golf club by selecting the link under Member Resources.

RULES FOR LIFT, CLEAN AND PLACE
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY: Lift, Clean and Place will ONLY be in effect when included in the Player Tip Sheet or an email sent out prior to the round. If it is not included, then Lift, Clean and Place will not be in effect.
-
Lift, Clean, and Place any ball located in the FAIRWAY (closely mown area) of the course without penalty. The ball must be placed within one club length of the original spot.
-
If there are spots on the course where there are deep ruts or other abnormal course conditions, you may need to go beyond one club length. If your playing partners agree that closer relief is not possible, you are allowed to go to the nearest point of relief.
-
These rules are in addition to those included in the BPWGC LOCAL RULES. Please use the button above to access the complete Local Rules.
BALBOA PARK PACE OF PLAY POLICY
We ask that all groups commit to following the Pace of Play goals set forth by the Balboa Park Golf Club management:
Tee Times: Pace of Play
Before 8 am: 4 hours or less
8 am - 10 am: 4 hours, 15 min or less
• Keep up with the group ahead of you!
• Be prepared to hit when it's your turn.
• If riding in a golf cart, consider putting your club in the bag at the next location.
• Minimize your pre-shot routine.
• Send the first two players who putt out on to the next tee box. Hit first, then record scores.
PLAY WELL, PLAY FAST — PLAY POORLY, PLAY FASTER
